MEEK MEADOWS MERCANTILE

MEEK MEADOWS MERCANTILE

Truly a small business, Meek Meadows Mercantile is run only by artist and craftsman Kylee & Harrison Hoover. Both lovers of the land, food, art, and adventure, Kylee and Harrison create things that reflect the beauty of nature, and can handle the grit of life.

Living Seasonally

We try our best to live seasonally, which includes foraging heavily in the early spring, cultivating crops in spring and summer, harvesting and preserving in the fall, and slowing down in the winter.

Regenerative

Focus

We believe that a healthy ecosystem begins with the soil. By harnessing the positive impact of animals, we work to regenerate and enrich the land. That’s why we raise goats, chickens, and other livestock, using their natural behaviors to improve soil health and foster a thriving ecosystem.

Keep it Wild

Foraging Forward

In his book, The New Wildcrafted Cuisine: Exploring the Exotic Gastronomy of Local Terroir, Pascal Baudar explains, "there is a very tangible pleasure to be found in wandering through the local wilderness, foraging seasonal wild edibles, and creating from scratch an incredible dish that could not be found anywhere else in the world."

When foraging, we are careful not to destroy the habitat or population of the forageables we love. Foraging goes beyond edible plants and fungi. We often use foraged wood and branches in the items we create, and we rely on many local medicinal plants like mullein, mint, and purple dead nettle which grow wild in our area.
